Winery Tasting Notes
Bright straw in colour.
Bright citrus and green melon aromas are given additional complexity with underlying lightly spiced oak.
Lime / lemon flavours from the Semillon are met with white peach and green melon notes from the Chardonnay component. Subtle, integrated spicy French oak nuances provide texture and length on the palate, finishing crisp and clean.
Enjoy with fresh seafood or Thai chicken.
Now to 2013.
The name Rawson's Retreat is an informal reference to the stone cottage built in 1845 by Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold at the famous Magill vineyard in Adelaide, where he, with wife Mary and daughter Georgina, had settled the year before and were to establish the Penfolds winery which still operates today.
