Winery Tasting Notes
From three vineyards with up to 90 year old vines and higher up the slope (approx 60 degrees). 50% de-stemmed, hand plunged and then aged 12 – 14 months in older oak. A light fining and not filtered before bottling. The defining characteristic of Vincent’s style is non oxidative handling, particularly during barrel maturation of up to 12 months.
Cornas & Saint Joseph were spared the deluge that savaged the Hill of Hermitage but still presented very challenging conditions for growers. The rainfall during the 3rd to 6th of September was almost 300mm, an entire average summer. Happily Vincent’s vineyards had almost reach peak Baume but bravery was required to leave vineyards long enough to dry out, recover and ripen. Then vigilant and disciplined sorting was required in Vineyard and winery.
