Wine Background

The Malet Roquefort family, living for 4 centuries in Saint-Emilion, is acknowledged as the most ancient family of the area, the Château itself

dates to the 11th Century. Located just south of St. Emilion, Château La Gaffelière remains under the watchful eye of Comte Léo de Malet-

Roquefort.

Vintage Condition

In keeping with most of France, 2008 followed 2007 as a difficult vintage saved from a cold and wet summer by a warm and dry September and October. The combination of frost, difficult conditions during flowering and the cool summer resulted in very small yields. The warm late harvest conditions allowed vigilant and patient vignerons to make some surprises from the 2008 vintage.
