Winery Profile

Le Cavalier Seul (The Lone Rider), a French expression meaning ‘to go it alone’, is a perfect encapsulation of Michel Tardieu’s ambition – to walk a different path in the South Rhône, creating varietally expressive wines from Syrah.

VINEYARDS

40 year old vineyards on chalky / clay soils around the villages of Cairanne, Rasteau and Pal de Dieu.

Le Cavalier Seul follows Michel’s philosophy of natural fermentation, minimal intervention and low sulphur addition before hand bottling without fining or filtration. Fruit expressiveness is key with minimal or no oak maturation.
