Fontanafredda is located in the heart of the Langhe and has a winemaking history dating back to 1878. The estate stretches over 250 acres of hilly terrain in the villages of Serralunga d’Alba, Barolo and Diano d’Alba in the centre of Piedmont. The vineyards lie on mostly evenly-contoured hillsides and rounded ridges at an altitude of between 200 – 400 metres.

Sweet, soft tannins come together in a closely-woven texture that merges with the fruit, while a crisp freshness provides a long, tasty finish.

WINEMAKING PHILOSOPHY

Fontanafredda produce a diverse range of sparkling wines and traditional Piedmont table wine varieties. Winemaking techniques include modern and traditional with the single vineyard Barolo finish fermentation and start maturation in 4000 litre French oak barrels before being transferred to the traditional huge and ancient Slovenian oak vats.
