Expert Reviews

Pepper, black fruit, violet, leather and some vanilla oak. It’s a nippy little fellow with bright fruit – strawberry and black cherry – and a sort of coffee flavour too. Tannins are dry and food friendly and there’s a crisp acid nip on the finish. Good stuff. Rating 90 - Gary Walsh,

Winery Tasting Notes

The nose is packed with black fruit, blackberries and plums, with slight spicy overtones hinting at black pepper and cinnamon.

Food Matching

An ideal match with fresh/cured meat and medium-aged cheeses.

Vintage Condition

Heavy winter snowfalls and spring rains restored moisture and balance in the soils, which was vital during the warm and dry summer. A trouble free and consistent Autumn allowed the fruit to ripen perfectly before harvest, resulting in a ripe and full bodied vintage.

Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) was the first Italian quality assurance label for wines in 1963, and in common with the French AOC, specifies the geographical area, permitted grape varieties and minimum alcohol level. It may also stipulate the production method, including minimum ageing.

Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) wines must meet all DOC requirements, must be bottled in the region of production, and are subject to a Ministry of Agriculture tasting. Each bottle will carry a numbered seal of approval.
