Established by Captain Stentiford in 1893 the Laira Vineyard was purchased by Eric Brand in 1950. 'Blockers' was the name given to Coonawarra land holders who sold their grapes to larger wineries in the 1950s and 1960s.
Eric Brand was a 'Blocker' before releasing his first Brand's Laira wine in 1966.
The rich palate displays plum and mulberry fruit flavours elegantly integrated with vanilla oak notes and a fine, velvety tannin finish. Cellar for up to 2022.

Healthy crimson-purple; the bouquet has cassis in the lead, oak trailing behind; the savoury/spicy palate brings everything into line with an impressive display of ripe plum and blackcurrant fruit cradled by fine, but distinctly savoury/earthy tannins, plus positive oak; the overall balance is exemplary. Winery Tasting Notes
Deep garnet red.
The nose is complex and vibrant displaying varietal fruit aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, mulberry and black olive accompanied by oak derived aromas of mocha, spice and cedar from barrel fermentation and maturation.
The rich palate displays pure juicy dark berry fruits accompanied by spice, vanilla and dusty cedar oak characters. The finish is long with a fine silky tannin structure and lingering fruit flavours.
