A wonderful growing season between September and December allowed lovely maturity and ripening of the grapes. With lower yields due to the rains the previous year, flavours came into the grapes later than previous years. With sugar levels increasing slowly, it wasn't until slightly later in the season that the grapes peaked at optimum flavour intensity, perfect for the Barwang style. With rains falling throughout the District, hand picking was selectively used to only harvest the clean, sound fruit which was found in the well maintained and cared for vineyards.
