Overview

This aromatic wine, made from a single clone Riesling grape grown on very low yielding vines, shows layered aromas suggesting talc, lime and floral perfume, followed by a palate with citrus, flint and mineral characters that extends to a long crisp finish. This elegant and universal style may be drunk as an aperitif or will match most food flavours.

Expert Reviews

Move over Clare Valley; step aside Eden Valley. Mount Barker in West Australias south-west is fast emerging as a serious producer of high quality rieslings. An outstanding single vineyard wine from the edge of the Porongurup Ranges, this has gloriously welcoming floral aromas and searingly intense lemon and lime flavours on a palate that is both beautifully fresh and perfectly balanced. This is a wine for sipping and savouring.Winsor Dobbin, Sunday Examiner (05/DEC/2010)

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Capel Vale was established in 1974 by Sydney radiologist Dr Peter Pratten and his wife Elizabeth when they purchased land on the Capel River between Bunbury and Busselton in Western Australia’s South-West.The site was originally a stone fruit orchard and its rich red alluvial loam soils over limestone made it a perfect viticultural site. It is also the location for the winery, cellar door and award winning restaurant.
