Expert Reviews

92 Points "This is an outstanding vineyard. Shows a beautiful aroma of lime and slatey minerals with a very long and lovely mouth-filling texture. Clearly an example of the more textural style of Riesling with a clean and pure finish. Has a more European feel. " West Australian, Ray Jordan (Australia), 08 Nov 08

"This wine has crushed apples, cut flowers and hints of talcum powder and lemongrass on the nose. It is long, fresh and zingy." tiol Liquor News (Australia), May 2009

Winery Tasting Notes

This aromatic wine, made from a single clone Riesling grape grown on very low yielding vines, shows layered aromas suggesting talc, lime and floral perfume, followed by a palate with citrus, flint and mineral characters that extends to a long crisp finish. This elegant and universal style may be drunk as an aperitive or will match most food flavours.

Brand Profile Image

Capel Vale was established in 1974 by Sydney radiologist Dr Peter Pratten and his wife Elizabeth when they purchased land on the Capel River between Bunbury and Busselton in Western Australia’s South-West.The site was originally a stone fruit orchard and its rich red alluvial loam soils over limestone made it a perfect viticultural site. It is also the location for the winery, cellar door and award winning restaurant.
