"…complex – spped twigs, blackcurrant, mulberries and gravel – but most importantly it has the oomph to make you ahh. Excellent carry of velvety tannin through the finish; indeed, it’s an excellent wine." Big Red Wine Book 2009/2010, Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (Australia), May 2009
90 Points "Lots of dark black currant fruit. Has a firmness and red berry fruit. Has a soft juiciness but there is excellent palate depth and concentration. Lovely balance of fruit and oak. Length and persistence. Has a leafy rosemary character with a touch of cedary oak. A very stylish wine." West Australian, Ray Jordan (Australia), 08 Nov 08
91 Points "A powerful wine, with ripe blackcurrant and plum aromas and flavours; positive tannins offset any alcohol heat."www.winecompanion.com.au, James Halliday (Australia), August 2008
Winery Tasting Notes
This full bodied traditionally styled wine demonstrates aromas of mulberry, plum and chocolate with some secondary cassis and capsicum overtones. Following fermentation and extended maceration, the wine has been matured in new and old French oak barriques, producing an unmistakable Margaret River cabernet character, made more complex by a small percentage of classic varietals grown in the region.
