Our small patch of Barbera was picked as late as possible to allow the wine to be made on the vine for maximum fruit intensity. The grapes were cold-soaked, naturally fermented and then basket-pressed in the classic Italian style.
- NSW - Mudgee
- New South Wales
Deliberately picked as late as possible to maximise fruit flavour; the colour is excellent, and the wine shows no overripe characters whatsoever. Seems as if it bypassed oak, but there are no hard tannins. Rating 90 - Drink by 2015 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (AUG/2011)
Winery Tasting Notes
The 2011 Barbera is a classic example of how elegant and delicious the variety of Barbera can be.
The nose exudes blackberry and currants.
The palate is long and even leaving a silky smooth finnish.
This wine is perfect with food because of the intense acid which is great with any rich meat dishes or creamy pasta. I especially like this with a slow roasted veal shoulder. Enjoy.
Drink now or cellar up to ten years.
