Expert Reviews

The 2005 E&E Black Pepper Shiraz received the same elevage as the 2004 but is more deeply coloured with a bouquet that jumps from the glass. Cedar, earth notes, leather, plum, and blueberry aromas are quite alluring. This leads to a concentrated, intense, lengthy wine which has 3-4 years of cellaring potential. Although it can be enjoyed now, it will be at its best from 2012 to 2022. Rating 92 - Jay Miller, Wine Advocate #181 (Feb/2009)

Retains good hue; a sumptuously rich and velvety wine that has waves of black fruits, chocolate and mocha supported by fine, ripe tannins and good oak - and nary a hint of pepper, black or otherwise. Rating 94 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Edition 2010

Winery Tasting Notes

Deep, dark red in colour.

The wine shows lifted aromas of cherry blossom, dark chocolate, coffee, and ripe blackberries.

Integrated into these aromas are spicy oak characters. The palate highlights the E&E style - rich, full bodied, finesse and a long elegant finish.

Cellaring Potential

Will reward careful cellaring, as it will improve for up to ten years after release.

Food Matching

Enjoy with full flavoured cheese, rich red meat dishes or simply by itself after decanting.
