Overview

Chandon Vintage Brut is blended from the classic grape varieties sourced from a range of cool climate vineyard sites.

A reductive, flinty aroma overlays quince, nashi pear, pine nut, citrus blossom and lemon zest. Toasty brioche and chalky mineral aromas present in the background.

The palate shows excellent palate weight with primary flavours of tangy lemon curd and kaffir lime. Secondary flavours of fresh baked pastry derive from long ageing on yeast lees. The palate finishes with tightly wound acidity, giving the wine remarkable freshness and length of flavour.

Expert Reviews

Now I’m getting on a bit, you could call me a vintage brut(e). I’ll fetch my coat. Fine, savoury biscuity style with a little honeycomb and white fruits. Gentle bubbles, slightly chalky feel, clean lightly spicy with a touch of yeast. Nicely done.Rating 92 - Gary Walsh, Wine Front (MAR/2016)

"The texture and biscuity, ginger nut complexity of three years lees age overlays the subtle citrus and stone fruits of cool climate Yarra Valley, Whitlands Plateau and Strathbogie Ranges fruit, with notes of struck flint reductive character true to the Chandon house style, finishing with lively, well-focused acidity, gentle grip and good persistence. Drink 2016-2018." Rating 90 points - Tyson Stelzer
