Delicately aromatic Sauvignon Blanc showing impressive subtlety and plenty of power with its long and linear finish. Quite a narrow band of flavours focusing on the citrus, lime zest end of the flavour spectrum without being overtly grassy. Very textural wine with hints of nutty lees character. Impressive. Rating 95 - Bob Campbell, bobcampbell.nz
Tinned grapefruit segments in light syrup, lime, quince, gentle spice, grass and fennel perfume. Juicy grapefruit flavour with a little varietal grassiness, lightly flinty, crisp acid, tight and chalky finish of good length. All just so. Very good release. Warm summer’s day. Seafood. Game on. Rating 92 - Drink by 2018, Gary Walsh, winefront.com.au (OCT/2015).
The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough has a nose of fresh lemon, white grapefruit and lime blossoms with hints of sage and wild thyme. Medium bodied, dry, crisp with plenty of citrusy zing in the mouth, the finish is long and steely. Rating 88 - Drink by 2017, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (DEC/2015).
Winery Tasting Notes
Bright, focused citrus aromatics of grapefruit and kaffir lime abound, supported by subtle tropical notes.
A silky, concentrated palate reveals ripe, juicy stone fruit and lemongrass, supported by a subtle minerality. Its racy acidity leads toward a mouthwatering, persistent finish, suggesting a Sauvignon Blanc with ageability.
Sauvignon blanc partners well with spicy Asian cuisine (not too much garlic or ginger) and particularly with lemongrass. Fresh seafood including oysters, mussels, whitebait and calamari make excellent matches. It is a natural born partner for the freshness of most Mediterranean cuisine - tomatoes, basil and feta cheese - as well as green salads and asparagus.
