Chandon is interested in creating medium bodied, aromatically complex styles of Shiraz. The Yarra Valley has a range of sites showing great diversity in terms of soil, sunlight, aspect and exposure, providing the winemaking team more interesting wines with which to blend. For Domaine Chandon Shiraz 2013, grapes were drawn from vineyards with north facing slopes in the warmer lower elevations of the Yarra Valley where Shiraz shows soft, silky tannins and juicy berry fruit flavours, alongside interesting spice and floral elements.

Expert Reviews

This is a steady release, if not better than that. It takes complexity in its stride. It tastes of roasted nuts, black cherries, licorice and raspberries and peppercorns. There’s a certain peppery twang too. Tannin deceptively assertive. It looks pretty much the goods. Rating 93 - Drink by 2024, Campbell Mattinson, (MAY/2015).

Winery Tasting Notes

Displays ripe varietal aromas and a complex palate of dark plum and boysenberry fruit flavours. Great persistence and integrated oak flavours mark the finish of this medium bodied red wine.
