Chandon Cuvée 500 explores Victoria's colder climates at altitude. The blend components in this exceptional wine were sourced from vineyards over 500 metres above sea level in the King Valley, Macedon and Strathbogie Ranges.
This wine draws on vineyards in our coolest Victorian sites - King Valley, Macedon and Strathbogie Ranges. Regional sourcing provides many different characters and flavours and the high altitude and regional diversity of these sites reveals intense wines with great natural acidity and balance. Soils at these sites vary from free draining granitic sands to volcanic red and aged alluvial loams.

“All of the grapes for the base wine were grown at elevations of 500m or more. Exceptionally pale colour for its age, but has good mousse; the bouquet and palate are complex, with the suggestion of some controlled aldehyde adding to the impact and length. Food style.” Rating 95 - James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2014
Winery Tasting Notes
The 2008 Chandon Cuvée 500 is pale yellow in appearance, with a beautiful foam, fine bead and persistent mousse.
The nose opens on Chardonnay fruit flavours of white peach and grapefruit with hints of orange rind. Complex patisserie aromas of pear tarte derive from yeast age.
The palate shows bright fruit elements mixed with subtle yeast age complexity. Baked quince and pomegranate flavours mingle with toast and almond meal characters. Creamy in texture, the palate length is supported by zesty acidity and brioche elements.
