In 1893, the Laira Vineyard was established by Captain Stentiford on a premium parcel of Coonawarra land. Eric Brand, the first Patron of Coonawarra, became the custodian of the vineyard more than half a century later. Born from Coonawarra's oldest block, Brand's Laira Coonawarra today offers wines of exceptional quality that pay homage to the winery's rich history. This Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot displays dark cherry and plum aromas complemented with mocha and vanilla oak notes. Ripe fruit dominates the palate with plum, mulberry and dark cherry flavours elegantly integrated with vanilla oak. Cellar for up to five years from the vintage.

Winery Tasting Notes
Deep purple red
Fresh perfumed dark fruits of blood plum, mulberry, blackberry and blackcurrant, backed by subtle vanilla and dusty cedar oak.
The palate is fresh and vibrant displaying dark berry and dark fruit flavours with black olive characters accompanied by subtle dusty cedar oak notes. The finish is quite long with a solid tannin structure and lingering fruit flavours.
Best appreciated while the vibrant fruit flavours are still fresh from 2014 to 2018, though will still reward cellaring for several additional years.
