This wine puts the NOIR into Pinot; a fine combination of dark cherries and red fruit abound. This is a fruit focused and velvety wine with rich flavours and soft tannins. Lean meats such as veal, venison or turkey, are a great match.

Winery Tasting Notes

Medium depth with a bright ruby red colour.

An enticingly aromatic wine showing notes of red berry fruits and dark cherries with the alluring complexity of well integrated oak.

Vibrant, fresh fruit flavours of strawberry and cherry underpinned by nuances of sweet, smoky oak. Good firm tannins give the wine length and weight. You can savour the wine long after it has left your palate.

Cellaring Potential

Up to five years.

Food Matching

Ideal with lamb or pork chops. Suited to most rest meats and not bad as a wine to enjoy all on its own!

Winemaking Notes

These grapes are from various vineyards in the Marlborough region. These are a wide variety of clones and rootstock, along with a mixture of soils and micro-climates. The grapes were all machine harvested. Cold soaked for four days the wine was then inoculated with a pure yeast strain. Once dry it was pressed off skin to tank and a portion of the blend went into French oak barrels for nine months. All of the wine went through malolactic fermentation.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Kim Crawford Wines started out in a small Auckland cottage in New Zealand.

Since launch in 1996, the label has gained critical acclaim around the globe. Being big was never our aim. Being the best has been.

Pouring a glass of Kim Crawford Wine promises great times with friends; it often heralds a spirited lunch or lively evening. It conveys confidence in a stylish, stimulating environment.

We do things unconventionally, take risks, start things, welcome different. Screw caps keep wine fresher than corks. So we started championing them. We decided the world needed a clean, top quality, fruit driven Chardonnay devoid of the heavy oak. So we started making one.

"Indeed, when we first started Kim Crawford, we didn't even have a vineyard or winery. Just an idea and a lot of energy."
