A lean complex citrus nose is overlaid with hints of cashew and oatmeal and touches of vanillan oak.

Expert Reviews

Very light yellow in colour, the nose is concentrated with expressive sour edged nectarine and fig fruit. The palate is elegant and complex and builds across the journey. The balanced stone fruits on the front palate move towards richer biscuit characters in the mid to back palate that are contrasted by vibrant acidity providing structure and focus.

The wine is drinking very well young, but also has the elements to handle medium term cellaring. Rating 93 - Patrick Eckel, Wine Reviews (JUN/2011)

Winery Tasting Notes

A lean complex citrus nose is overlaid with hints of cashew and oatmeal and touches of vanillan oak.

The balance between citrus and melon primary fruit and complex rich flavours of the yeast and ferment has been achieved with an underlying thread of natural acid. The complexity of the wine will develop as the wine ages with an ever changing array of complex characters emerging.

Cellaring Potential

Drink now and over the next 5 years.

Winemaking Note

Ripe full bodied fruit is the norm from the Hunter and it takes a lot of winemaking to turn this full bodied wine into a more complex balanced and textured wine of interest. This wine was picked at lower sugar to keep its leaner structure and citrus overtones and fermented in separate components using solids, natural yeasts, barrel fermentation and higher ferment temperatures at various levels to create further complexity.
