Expert Reviews

"Produced by De Bortoli Wines, this is a light-bodied red of charm and style. Pale cherry-red in colour, with a meaty, spicy and cherry-scented aroma, it is juicy and vibrant, with lightness and a low tannin level for quaffability. A style that deserves to succeed."

Rating 87 - Huon Hooke, Maitland Mercury, Sydney Morning Herald, Warrnambool Standard, Northern Daily Leader, Ballarat Courier (APR/2012)

"Exuse the pun, but at $8.50 this gluggable red is a steal! It is crimson hued and has sweet raspberry scents. Juicy plum flavour comes through on the front of the palate and glace´cherry, mint and spice fruit characters integrate with restrained coconutty oak on the middle palate. Soft earthy tannins hold sway at the finish. Drink with Spicy Italian sausages, spaghetti bolognaise or

lamb koftas and citrus couscous."

De Bortoli Wines is a third generation family wine company established by Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli in 1928. The couple emigrated to Australia from Northern Italy, from mountain villages at the foothills of the Italian Alps, near the historic town of Asolo.

Their son, the energetic and dynamic Deen De Bortoli, (b 1936 – d 2003) expanded and consolidated the business created by his parents. Deen's children established De Bortoli's reputation for premium wine including icon dessert wine Noble One and the Yarra Valley wines.

Italian family values passed down from Vittorio remain core values, there is a culture of hard work, generosity of spirit and of sharing good food, good wine and good times with family and friends.
