This elegant, yet aromatic expression of Pinot Gris is blended from a range of our vineyards on New Zealand’s North Island. Gentle pressing and cool fermentation have preserved delicate spice notes that are complemented by lush pear and light pineapple flavours.

Colour

Light straw in colour.

Aroma

The wine shows aromas of fresh pear, stone fruit and subtle tropical notes.

Palate

The palate has pear and ripe citrus flavours and finishes with balanced, natural acidity. It has good fruit concentration in the mid-palate leading to a lingering, textural finish. This well-balanced wine leaves a lovely aftertaste of spice and peach.

Best served lightly chilled and enjoyed whilst the wine is young.

While we craft wines from vineyards throughout New Zealand, Brancott Estate™ wines (formerly known as 'Montana' wines) are named in honour of our Marlborough roots - taking their name from our cherished Brancott Vineyard. With its special combination of soil, sun and climate, this is where we first planted our most famous varietal; Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Although our name has changed, you can be assured that the distinctive and uniquely New Zealand wine in the bottle will remain the same - as will the location of our inspirational home where it all began.

In 1973, Brancott Vineyard was the site of our first Sauvignon Blanc plantings in Marlborough – a decision that went against the popular opinion of the time that suggested the South Island was too cold to grow wine grapes. We soon proved this wasn’t the case with our very first vintage of the varietal winning an award.

The release of the first Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc vintage in 1979 was the beginning of a phenomenon which, not only placed New Zealand firmly on the international wine map, but has since become a shining example of the quality of wine that can be produced from this land.

Today, Brancott Vineyard continues to be a source of inspiration for our winemakers, not only proving that anything is possible, but that our belief in this land and our knowledge to obtain the best from it can result in award-winning wines enjoyed the world over.
