Deen De Bortoli created his Vat Series with the idea of developing a range of delicious, full-flavoured wines at an affordable price. Deen personally selected the blends and chalked the numbers on the vats to identify them. The Vat Series includes traditional varietal wines and also wines made from interesting, newer varieties to Australia.

"If ever there was an undervalued red grape in Australia, it’s petit verdot. If it had a trendy 'alternative' name folks would be raving over its potential. This is in the groove. Lots of grunt and some personality too. Blackcurrant, iodine, violets, a slip of creamy vanilla. It’s robust and warm but well balanced. You can’t go wrong."90 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, June 2013
This late ripening French variety is full bodied, brassy and bold, with a liberal splash of black fruit, spice and dark chocolate. Try it with a hearty winter lamb stew."Kerry Skinner, Illawarra Mercury, July 2013
"Petit Verdot is a thick-skinned, late-ripening red variety, widely used in Bordeaux as a blender but increasingly planted elsewhere – and occasionally served up on its own. It often struggles to ripen in Bordeaux. But in the sunny, hot Riverina region it ripens fully – in this instance, producing a deep purple, full-bodied red, packed with ripe fruit flavour and the variety’s notoriously firm tannins. It provides solid, clean, fresh drinking at a low price."
