Nikau Point Reserve Chardonnay 2012 (12 x 750mL), Hawkes Bay, NZ.

Two clones of Chardonnay, clone 15 and Mendoza , from the Crownthorpe area of the Hawkes Bay wine region make up this wine. The ‘Mendoza ‘ fruit was barrel fermented in used French oak barrels and matured for 12 months. Some of wine also underwent malolactic fermentation. Meanwhile the Clone 15 portion was fermented and aged in stainless steel.

The wine shows aromas of nectarine, white peach, almond and shortbread with and hint of vanilla. The palate well balanced with a fine acidity and crisp nectarine fruit flavours. Barrel fermentation flavours are contributing to texture and length.
