Penfolds Bin 128 is one of a number of Penfolds reds that resulted from Max Schubert’s experimental winemaking program. The first vintage was 1962. Bin 128 is a single-region wine that reflects both Coonawarra terroir and the character of cool-climate Shiraz. Because of its lighter style, Bin 128 is matured in French oak. Greater emphasis on optimal fruit ripeness has also raised the quality of Bin 128 since the mid-1980s.

Winery Tasting Notes
Bright crimson red.
Coonawarra varietal notes with green tobacco and a whiff of spice, white pepper and menthol. Beguiling lift of Chinese pork, freshly shelled walnut and pistachio.
Lively, rich, ripe Coonawarra shiraz with damson plum, beetroot and blackberry flavours. Generous, sweet mid-palate with rounded, softened oak tannins. A lovely, ripe Bin 128, a confident follow-up to the floral, peppery 1997.
