Expert Reviews

Medium to full red; much better balance between fruit and oak than in previous years with a complex array of sweet vanilla, cedar and spice aromas leading on to an attractive, well crafted and modulated wine on the palate with red and black berry fruits complemented by generous but not overwhelming sweet fruit.

Winery Tasting Notes

An elegantly structured wine made from the traditional Bordeaux grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, grown on our Clare Estate Vineyard.

Penfolds Clare Estate Vineyard is situated on the south-eastern slopes of the Clare Valley, with 100 hectares of vines planted on the fertile red brown loam soils. The vineyard enjoys a cooler climate than the nearby Barossa Valley.
