Penfolds `Magill Estate` Shiraz 1984 (1 x 750mL), Adelaide, SA.

1984 is the second vintage of this historic and heritage-protected wine.

Penfolds Magill Estate is one of the few single vineyards in the world located within city boundaries.

Penfolds Magill Estate Shiraz was developed after the vineyard was saved from being engulfed by urban development, with a single estate wine being compelling justification for the continued use of this vineyard (by then, just 5.2 hectares of the 120 hectares which once covered an entire hillside).

The aim was to create a wine which showed the character of the vineyard but was more elegant in style than most Penfolds reds.

Winery Tasting Notes

The 1984 Magill Estate is an elegant wine with a light, yet intensely flavoured palate. Made from Magill Shiraz, the quantity from each vintage will, of course, always be very limited. The 1984 vintage produced two thousand dozen only.

It is a sleek, contemporary wine, yet crafted in the old fashioned way in the 120+ year-old winery: hand-picked, vinified in open fermenters and then basket pressed.
