Lakes Folly Cabernets 1998 (1 x 3L Double Magnum) Hunter Valley, NSW.

Wonderful. Perfect balance of fruit sweetness and savoury balance. Complex, interesting wine of considerable pedigree. Ripe tannins and careful oak usage creates an almost perfect wine. Outstanding!

This wine was hand made using traditional open fermentation, and aged in French oak barriques, of which one third were new.

Rating 94 - James Halliday - Published on 20 July 2011, Australian Wine Companion

"Healthy, full red-purple; a distinctly regional, gently earthy/savoury cast to the fruit will doubtless raise the question in the minds of some, but for me the wine is spotlessly clean. A perfectly made wine on the palate, with cassis fruit the anchor for both the texture and structure; exemplary tannin and oak handling completes the picture."
