Light to medium yellow-green; an exceptionally intense, complex yet fine bouquet with perfectly married nutty barrel-ferment characters running through sweet melon and citrus fruit is followed by an intense, yet elegant palate with melon, cashew, chestnut, citrus and oak spice flavours. Long and penetrating, with excellent acidity, the wine has an indefinite future, however seductive it is now. Rating 97 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (JUL/2011).
Very fresh, very tasty. All grapefruit and toast. Lovely soft, glycerol mouthfeel and lots and lots of lingering length. A gorgeous drink. If I was going to question the wine it would be over its complexity – is there enough going on here? Rating 94 - Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au (JAN/2008).
Winery Tasting Notes
The colour is lime straw with lime green.
Aromas are very lifted with scents of dried pears, quinces and tones of flowers combined with notes of nutmeg, cloves and sweet malt.
The palate is immediately mouth filling and full, yet there is a fineness and balance that again only comes from great years. The layers of fruit are well defined and long; the natural acids present but very well integrated.
