2005 vintage followed a long dry and cooler than average summer. This ideal growing season initiated earlier than expected and above average maturities.

Lots of toasty mocha and nougat oak but it’s bedding down very nicely amongst the rich but vibrant blackberry and raspberry fruit. There’s a twist of pepper and plenty of spice too – all very nice. Medium to full bodied, fresh and lively with fine grained ripe tannins and seamless flow through the mouth finishing long and spicy with a cedary aftertaste. Very impressive wine, but one that comes with the caveat that you need to enjoy a good clip of (quality) oak.

A dense, dark and powerful wine, full of red fruits and a slight edge of fresh herbs; good length and intensity of fruit.
Winery Tasting Notes
Deep dark plum with crimson and purple tinges.
A rich and complex array of fruit, oak and subtle maturation aromas. Attractive ripe raspberry & plum fruit with sweet anis and licorice spice tones. Sweet vanillin oak and subtle light roast coffee bean adds complexity to fruit aromas.
An opulent palate structure, richly layered with ripe fruit, oak and maturation flavours that are seamlessly combined. Rich raspberry and plum fruit with sweet anis and licorice spices and lingering pepper are a feature. Soft and fine lingering tannin are in harmony with the palate structure.
The rich flavours of Prodigy make it an excellent partner to seared beef sirloin with mustard.
Medium to long term (10 to 20 years from vintage).
