The Bogan is designed to highlight the unmistakeable synergy between Barossa Shiraz and good quality American oak. This is very much the new Australian style.

'Deep colour; a complex mix of blackberry fruits, earth and spice; the alcohol doesn't burn, and the overall extract only medium-bodied, the tannins in restraint. High-quality cork. Drink by 2015.' Rating 94 - James Halliday - Review published on 20 Jul 2011
'The 2004 Shiraz The Bogan, a blend of 98% Shiraz and 2% Viognier aged 20 months in primarily American oak, is a seamlessly constructed wine that was tasted immediately prior to bottling. Inky/purple-colored, with superb ripeness and fruit as well as loads of cassis, blackberry, cedar, and spice box, it will be gorgeous young, yet should age effortlessly for 10-15 years.' Rating 95 - Robert Parker - Review published Oct 2005
Winery Tasting Notes
Youthful with a dark centre
Generous, with, baked plums, blueberry and cola.
The oak shows quite spicy with a bit of mocha and chocolate on the back palate. Quite accessible as a young wine. Baked dark fruits and chocolate. A little sooty at the end with a nice twist from a small percentage of viognier that keeps poking its head up. Structure is plump with a good length of aftertaste.
