The original and most powerful expression of Penfolds multi-vineyard, multi-district blending philosophy, Grange is arguably Australia’s most celebrated wine and is officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. Crafted utilising fully-ripe, intensely-flavoured and structured Shiraz grapes, the result is a unique Australian style that is now recognised as one of the most consistent of the world’s great wines. With an unbroken line of vintages from the experimental 1951, Grange clearly demonstrates the synergy between Shiraz and the soils and climates of South Australia.

Vintage 1991"Classic, exemplary Grange with a deep, dark red colour. Briary and perfumed, its heady bouquet of deeply concentrated melange of small berry aromas and fresh flowers is lifted by superbly handled sweet oak, with suggestions of mocha and coffee. A deeply concentrated yet incredibly stylish, long and perfectly weighted palate is framed by firm, fine tannins. Exceptional balance and harmony. Drink 2021-2031." Rated 97 by Jeremy Oliver.
Vintage 1992 Outstanding dense but bright purple-red; a powerful, concentrated bouquet with blackberry, mulberry and licorice aromas, and the oak seemingly more restrained than is usual. A powerful but impeccably balanced and structured wine, redolent of black cherry, licorice and mulberry fruit flavours; oozing class, breeding and staying power. It will be very interesting to watch the development of this wine versus the much-vaunted '90 and '91 vintages. Rated 96 points by James Halliday
Medium to full red-purple; voluminous blackberry, licorice, black cherry and chocolate fruit aromas completely integrated with sweet vanillin oak on the bouquet; has a texture and structure all of its own, not monolithic, yet meltingly smooth. Maintains the great tradition. Rated 94 points by James Halliday
Vintage 1994Dense red-purple; the typically rich and powerful bouquet has layers of dark berry fruit and integrated and balanced oak. What makes it unusual is the distinct hint of chocolate, which appears again on the silkily powerful palate. Here there is an array of all of the fruit flavours one could possibly expect, but once again that touch of dark Swiss chocolate adding an intriguing note. The oak balance and integration is better than any five-year-old Grange I can remember, the tannins perfectly balanced into the bargain.Rating 97 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion MAR 1999
Vintage 1995 In the manner of all great stayers, has picked up pace markedly over the past year. Deeply coloured, ripe cherry, spice, vanilla and a hint of licorice rumble through the bouquet; the palate is powerful and sustained by sweet tannins, the plum and black cherry fruit providing the core for the future.the bouquet is Rating 95 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion OCT 2000
Vintage 1996Medium to full red-purple, still bright after five years, vibrant cherry and plum fruit aromas more than handle the oak on the bouquet; the palate is sumptuous, but not heavy, the cherry and plum flavours tracking the bouquet. The wine has a very long finish, with fine, integrated tannins. Destined to become one of the great Granges. Rating 97 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion JAN 2001
