Medium garnet colored, 2004 Abednego Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre gives evolved aromas of spice cake, dates, fig paste, leather, tobacco and an earthy undercurrent of damp loam and underbrush. Medium to full bodied with firm fine tannins and refreshing acidity, this is a balanced and elegant style for this blend. Mature and drinking well now, it should continue to cellar to 2018. Rating 92 - Drink by 2018, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (DEC/2010).
Good hue; the fruit and tannin lines are entirely disconnected, the sweet fruit first, then the tannins; the RRP is something to conjure with. Rating 88 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (MAR/2008).
Winery Tasting Notes

The 2004 Abednego is deep crimson in colour.
It displays complex aromas of ripe berry fruit, herbal mint and subtle smoky oak spilling from the glass.
On the palate, this blend of 'old world' varieties has an intense concentration of flavours with cherries and spice well integrated with earthy, savoury and dried herb flavours. The wine has a great complexity of flavours with tight grained tannins that give the wine excellent structure and provides a long, satisfying finish.
Like all Grant Burge Icon Wines, Abednego will continue to mature over the next 10-12 years.
It is a superb match with gamey duck and rustic lamb dishes.
