Provenance: ★ ★ ★ ★ Our most flavoursome and best-structured parcels of Shiraz are blended together each year for the "Oscar Semmler" Shiraz, the "Reserve" label for Dutschke. The "Oscar" represents "the best of the vintage."
This special selection of Shiraz grapes was harvested from our vineyard planted in 1975. The grapes were harvested on two separate occasions over the period of 9 days. The must fermented for 7 days in open fermenters, before transferring to new and one year old French Oak Hogsheads to complete fermentation. The wine was then matured for a further 24 months in these same French oak barrels.

"The single vineyard Reserve, the 2004 Shiraz Oscar Semmler, was aged in new and one year old French oak for 22 months prior to bottling. Its dense ruby/purple hue is followed by sumptuous aromas of graphite, blueberries, creme de cassis, licorice, and white pepper. With fabulous fruit, good balance, ripe tannin, and a full-bodied, long finish, this beauty can be drunk now or cellared for a decade."
Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #167 (Oct 2006).
"Tightly focused blackberry, plum and spice fruit; has depth and doog tannins, the oak well integrated. Carries its alcohol with ease."
Rating 94 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (AUG/2008)
