Expert Reviews

Very well-made; very precise and beautifully balanced gentle black fruits against a background of French and American oak; has great length. Vines over 100 years old. Rating 96 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (FEB/2007)

This 100% Shiraz, from three vineyards aged 109, 127, and 152 years, spent two years in a combination of new and old French and American oak. Tasted just before it was to be bottled unfined and unfiltered, it offers up lovely aromas of blackberries, white flowers, graphite, and white chocolate. This rich, full-bodied, layered, powerful (14.5% alcohol) Shiraz cascades over the palate with great intensity, yet remains light on its feet. Possessing sweet tannin, with loads of richness and extract, it should evolve for 15-20 years. Langmeil’s winemaker, Paul Lindner, is the force behind this brilliant wine. Rating 93 -95 Drink to 2026, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (OCT/2006)
