Winery Tasting Notes
Penley Estate Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV:Rich in flavour with both finesse and elegance. We aim to bring out the best in our fruit by using techniques to let both the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir shine through. This wine has fresh citrus flavours with a soft creamy texture. A touch of oak has given this wine great structure and complexity.
Capricornia `Ltd Release` Chardonnay 2014:The bouquet has typical ripe peach and rock melon character jumping out of the glass on first impression. Deeper on the nose is creamy roasted cashew nut and vanilla custard tart with a hint of spice and confection.On the palate the fruit is more subtle and there’s the distinctive character of cashew nuts and toasty oak. The palate weight is full and the finish is clean and dry with a supple, creamy richness.
Adelaide Winemakers `Landcross` Chardonnay 2015:Aromatic, floral stone fruits with a citric note running through and complex, nutty undertones adding an extra layer.Bright fruit notes open this wine with light complexity filling out the mid palate. This richness seamlessly blends into the crisp acidity driving the wine home.
Nikau Point Reserve Chardonnay 2012:Two clones of Chardonnay, clone 15 and Mendoza , from the Crownthorpe area of the Hawkes Bay wine region make up this wine. The ‘Mendoza ‘ fruit was barrel fermented in used French oak barrels and matured for 12 months. Some of wine also underwent malolactic fermentation. Meanwhile the Clone 15 portion was fermented and aged in stainless steel.The wine shows aromas of nectarine, white peach, almond and shortbread with and hint of vanilla. The palate well balanced with a fine acidity and crisp nectarine fruit flavours. Barrel fermentation flavours are contributing to texture and length.
