Winery Tasting Notes
Brazen Wine Shiraz 2015: One of Australia's most exciting winemaking talents - formally of Two Hands Matt Wenk - has made Brazen just for us!This Shiraz has all the hallmarks of McLaren Vale, perfumed with dark berries and plums, dark liqueur chocolate combined with spice, vanilla bean and subtle charry oak.On the palate, the dark fruits jump to the fore and then flow through to the finish, balanced with spicy, dark chocolate and fine cocoa like tannins.
Carbunup Crest Shiraz 2006: Taste this superb wine and discover that premium wine does not have to come at a premium price. Displays aromas of black olives, berries and mint. Lifted flavours of blackberry, plums, licorice and a hint of white pepper with smooth tannin. The wine has good length and balanced finish, complemented by twelve months in oak barrels.
Barking Owl Cabernet Sauvignon 2014:This Cabernet Sauvignon, with its great length and structure is a fruit forward wine that is varietally expressive. Aromas of cassis, plums and a hint of spice. Flavours of blackberries, ripe plums, blueberries. Fine grained tannin interlaced with a hint of savoury oak lead to a wine that is medium bodied with great length and flavour.
Chris Hill `Full Circle` Old Vat Cabernet Sauvignon 2014:The bouquet is intense with rich dark chocolate and brandy soaked dried fruits. There is a strong earthiness and distinct oak influence with cedar wood and pencil shavings. With fermentation in large open tanks this wine has developed a smoky bacon and gamey complexity which supports the characters of heavily charred oak. The entry has hints of blackcurrants and green beans combined with coconut, earthy herbs and tobacco. On the tongue the texture is big and chewy with high alcohol and grainy tannins. The finish is luscious and velvety with rich chocolaty characters lingering long after the wine has gone.
