Winery Tasting Notes

Willunga 100 Grenache 2014:Bright lifted and intense floral aromatics in a deliberate red fruit spectrum, show a typical style of straight McLaren Vale Grenache. A great texture and richness from the lees aging and oak maturation harness the fine sandy tannins.

Milner of Hahndorf `The Sculptor` Tempranillo 2013: This vibrant Tempranillo has lively red berry fruit with hints of vanilla and blueberries, and a touch of leather and spice. A rich palate with firm tannins, balanced acidity and supporting oak

Piantaferro `Intrigo` Nero d'Avola 2015: Nero d'Avora is a black grape variety from Sicily, Italy. Warm, with delicate notes of red berries, reminiscent of blueberry and cherry, followed by a spicy, balsamic note and vanilla notes. The wine is full on the palate, soft, warm and harmonious. The velvety tannins are barely noticeable and disappear quickly, it has good persistence. During the aftertaste phase, spicy and balsamic notes, as well as pleasant light liquorice notes.

Willow Bridge`Water Dancer` Cabernet Merlot 2014: The Cabernet gives the wine a core of juice blackcurrant, with a seasoning of dried herbs, whilst the Merlot adds body and sweet plumminess to the mid palate. Maturation in a selection of French Oak barrels has added layers of sophisticated cedar, dark chocolate and fine tannins

Borgo Bello Montepulciano D'Abruzzo DOC 2014: Montepulciano is a vigorous red grape variety planted over much of Central Italy. Fruity flavour with hints of red fruits and typical liquorice bouquet on the nose. Subtle oak undertones precede ripe red fruit flavours and fine tannins and a soft luscious finish.

Angove 'Cross Stitch' Shiraz Cabernet Sauv 2014: Rich, ripe plum and spice from the Shiraz are perfectly interwoven with the blackcurrant and chocolate characters of the Cabernet Sauvignon.Subtle oak undertones precede ripe red fruit fl avours and fi ne tannins and a soft luscious finish.

Medals & Trophies

Willunga 100 Grenache 2014:Gold Medal Winewise Awards 2015. A potent and powerful wine, with rare drive and grip, that only McLaren Vale can produce. It does so without in any way subjugating the varietal character, the savoury tannin structure something to behold. Radically different from The Hundred. Rated 94 by James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion. (Aug/2016)
