Winery Tasting Notes
Castalia Pinot Noir 2014:Displays ripe berry fruit aromas complimented by spicy undertones. Smooth tannins support the ripe fruit flavours on the palate with hints of spice adding a layer of complexity; a wine of a delicate balance of acidity and tannin.
Zalinga Gold Label Merlot 2013: This classic Merlot demonstrates delicious flavoursome characteristics and is ideal for immediate enjoyment. The wine is rich and fruit driven, revealing flavours of soft berries. Silky tannins compliment the ripe berry undertones, resulting in a well-balanced finish.
Nikau Point Reserve Merlot Cabernet 2013: Mid red in colour. The aroma shows vanilla and blueberry aromas along with some fragrant sage and thyme characters. The palate is medium bodied, with a soft structure and acidity. Well balanced with a silky length and clean finish. Merlot 73%, Cabernet Sauvignon 27%.
Chateau Brondeau Bordeaux Superieur 2008: Clean and beautifully balanced, with intense red colour with a ripe fruit and delicate oak aromas. Goes well with red meat or white cheese.
Borgo Saletta Vino Rosso IGT Toscano 2009:The Borgo Saletta is a true expression of the whole estate, encompassing a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) Cabernet Franc (20%) and Merlot (20%) from all vineyard sites. The focus is on fine tannins in order to provide more immediate drinkability. The wine is aged for just under a year in oak barrels that have already seen 1-2 years of use for Saletta, which contributes complexity without the greater definition of new oak.
Gun Runner Bay Pinot Noir 2015: This wine displays floral aromas with notes of plum and cherry. A palate of herbs and fresh berries. Light tannins with a fresh finish.
