Winery Tasting Notes

Chateau Haut La Pierriere Cotes de Castillon 2014: 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Cherry-red in colour tinged with ruby. On the palate, extremely ripe fruit, followed by silky, integrated tannins define this wine, which is so similar to Saint-Emilion in style. A supple, well-balanced wine.

Chateau Haut Piquat 2009: Ideally located, Château Haut Piquat produces a fine and generous good-keeping wine with a deep purple colour, a complex nose of red fruits and vanilla. The aromas are balanced and harmonious. The nose is confirmed by the palate. Excellent length.

Chateau Brondeau Bordeaux Superieur 2008: Clean and beautifully balanced, with intense red colour with a ripe fruit and delicate oak aromas.

Zalinga Gold Label Merlot 2013: This classic Merlot demonstrates delicious flavoursome characteristics and is ideal for immediate enjoyment. The wine is rich and fruit driven, revealing flavours of soft berries. Silky tannins compliment the ripe berry undertones, resulting in a well-balanced finish.

James Irvine `Signature Selection` Merlot 2010: Lifted ripe plums, spicy French oak tones, florals and violets. Deep, rich, fruit lift. Flowing through from the bouquet is the taste of rich dark fruit particularly plums and dark cherry. Full, yet complex flavours, the texture is soft and rounded finishing with abundant dry tannins. The mid palate structure is fully weighted and tight. Elegance with power. A wine that will continue developing to arrive at its best. Carefully cellar for the next 6-10 years.

Range Valley Estate Merlot 2015: The bouquet shows fresh plum fruit aromas with a hint of oak. The palate is medium bodied with sweet fruit and spice with a soft finish.
