McLaren Vale is widely regarded for its full flavoured, powerfully structured Shiraz. It has typically hot, dry summer growing conditions tempered by the cooling maritime influence of Gulf St Vincent and the surrounding Hills. The wines of 2014 are just starting to show their true colours.

Winery Tasting Notes
The appearance is inky cherry red with solid depth and long viscous alcohol legs.
The bouquet jumps out of the glass with earthy soil, iodine and vegetative herbs. It has charred oak and sweet berry fruit.
The early palate has an initial rush of blackberry and plum fruit before the herbal, earthy characters dominate the mid palate. It then takes on more savoury elements of black olives, cured meats and spices. Tight dusty tannins give a full, dry mouth-feel while the finish is long and clean with a lingering, smoky after taste.
This is a rich and versatile style of Shiraz. The palate weight is solid and full with a luxurious silky texture making it a great match to strongly flavoured meat dishes like crispy pork belly or Spanish style spicy sausage.
This is a wine made to last many years in bottle. Over the next 2 years it will display the primary characters of fruit and earthiness which will slowly develop into more complex secondary flavours. It has the power and intensity to age up to 10 years and it will still pack a punch.
